Twitter is not used in Denmark, people use Facebook instead, at least no one I know uses Twitter

Really? But it's not like Twitter is an alternative to Facebook, it's a different service... but I don't like Facebook anyway

I know and I totally agree.. but a lot of people tend to use Facebook like you would use Twitter normally, for reasons I cannot explain

I've never tried Twitter ...only seen it a couple of times ...looks a bit boring / strange. What's the idea?

No because there you only have your friends
With Twitter you follow anyone you want, and it's all in one timeline, easy and quick.
There are people who will post funny things, people who post news, people who will post music, people who will just post about their daily life (your friends).
And one of the best things about Twitter for me is that you can get in contact with 'well known' people you would normally not get to speak (like artists or politicians), I've had several responses to my messages to artists that I like. Of course not the Britney Spears or Rihanna of this world (although I never tried; Rihanna really responds a lot to fans), but at least the ones I really like.
Twitter is just perfect for quick-checking on my phone, whenever I'm bored or so. Just fun and easy, unlike Facebook which is just boring.

True, the platform is completely different, but the actual action you perform is basically the same. A twitter status contains a short message and optionally a link - so does a facebook status update..
