What does it take to make music?

Title says it all. I want to produce music, but I have no idea where to start. I have some books on how to make it, but I want to know all the equipment and software that you guys are all using. I want to know this, so I can buy the right gear. I can get access to education software which is a cheaper alternative while being legit. I don't know when I will start, but at least this will be a step in the right direction.

Yes, but there's a lot of other sequencer, like Cubase, Logic, Nuendo, Live, etc..
First you need to try all of they and search what is your favorite and more easy for you.

In a second time you need some samples, like the kick, clap, crash, hat, etc.. And you can find they on some samples library, like Vengeance.
After this you need some virtual instruments, like V-Station, z3ta+, Massive, Albino, Minimoog, etc..

I... guess you need some sort of prosthesis to replace your hands... But then again you could easily just make music on your computer.

Ok, you can't play the flute... but you can blow it..! _D

Well,
First, we wish you luck in this new experience.
Second, there are many programs to produce, and I see that you've tried some (important for one that feels not too hard because if you can not get bored).
Well I think I gave you some names of SOFTWARS. (v-station, Vanguard, Nexus, Pro-52-53, etc ...). and of course some tracks (vec1, vec2, VEC3, VEE1, VEE2 .... etc.).
Third, listening music and have pretty good ear, so you will discover the elements of music.

He finally, do not assume as a job, rather enjoying every sound produced, production is not easy and takes time.

Good luck!

Sorry for my bad English

Hi!!

My opinion is that you should take some basic piano classes, because playing the piano is similar to playing a synth, so when you have some knowledge about music, you can start with the software mentioned above (Fl Studio is less difficult, I guess) Mouth

Good luck and success!!

I think learning the piano is a good idea and there are classes at my community college for making music. Might not be Italodance, but it could help. I should probably study italodance midi's and see how it is done.

I did make a tiny bit of progress by making a potential tracklist for my album. It is far from final and I am a very very long way in making this into actual music. I have yet to write the songs, but I think you guys might like it. Whatever I produce will be unique for sure.

What is VEE? I have slowly started to discovered and I can tap my fingers into how it sounds. I know sharmcafe from Gabry Ponte quite well. It is sheet music which is quite complicated and arranging it.

It does not help that I cannot read notes, or know how to use a piano. Maybe a touch based midi keyboard is better. I am not sure if I can actually do it. I can listen to music, but making it is another story.
