You can't see what they're expressing... which kind of ruins the whole point of them x'D

The size is easily solvable:
press Ctrl++
or
change the resolution of your screen to 800x600

Here's another great solution for you dano:
Start menu -> Accessories -> Ease of access -> Magnifier
