Whatever happened to Gabry Ponte??

His style has changed so much Sad

I love his two albums and of course he was part of Eiffel 65 so I consider him one of the greatest Italo dance artists ever but lately I've been downright horrified by his productions. 'The Point Of No Return' and 'La Liberta' were good songs but besides them... these past years have been hard.

Well, I guess he has found better audience in elektro-whatever-music he's doing these days.

Music is changing all the time and artists go along. Same could be said about Prezioso feat. Marvin who obviously are concentrating on house music from now on...

No one knows the actual explanation except Gabry himself..
But I guess it's because m2o doesn't allow him to play much italo while the general interest in italo seems to be pretty low in Italy at the moment.
Another explanation could be that he has worked with dance music for that many years and now wants to try something else...
Gabry still plays mostly italo in his live shows though.. so I wouldn't say that he's completely done with italo yet.

Regarding Prezioso & Marvin they stopped producing italo a long time ago.. their last italo production was "Le Louvre" which is over 4 years old..

His style is changed because the "question" of the dumbass Italian young people, after they have listened a new style piece on the radio or in a club, is changed to Elektro/House and Minimal.
Those new pieces are more easy to produce and master, so all those empty heads of DJs had a gold occasion for make money, using the Italian deficient-ignorant young generation.

That last message in my signature (Fighetti ammazzatevi! Daje de cassa!) is my consideration against this! It means (Kill yourself "playboys", let the bass KICK!)

It has changed...

But hey, maybe he'll return one day.

'The point of no return' is yet to be passed Wink

PS: But CFE, let's not forget 'Survival'. I think that makes two years since last italo release Smile

The original mix is not italo it's tek-house.. you are thinking about the Gabry Ponte Remix.
So Le Louvre is still the last Prezioso italo production.

He got lost in the woods.
And after a few hours he got hungry, and the only thing he could find was some mushroom under a tree.
He ate them, and suddenly beautiful colors were appearing, he could fly and electro started sounding good. Smile

Honestly, I'm a big fan of most of what he's done, italo or not.
So I'm just glad that he hasn't left italo completely, like others have..

I didn't say he only makes italo ...I said he is the one still making italo sound uposite the others.. Prezioso, Molella, DJ Ross, PDJ. PromiseLand etc.

You can't say that these latest singles is electro style: [then I rip your head off Smile ]

- La Liberta
- U.N.D.E.R.G.R.O.U.N.D.
- The Point Of No Return
- Never Leave You Alone [The 10 Moves Mix]
- Movin On [2007 Re-Work]
- Somebody Called Me [Remix]

You are just strange that you can't hear the italo sound Laughing out loud

I agree with Lucky more or less.. those singles you are mentioning are from last year McW, except Somebody Called Me.. but lets be honest it's not a true Gabry italo-production though it still has some elements.
Plus there is no italo at all on his new album and that says enough I should think.

No that doesn't say it all.. that album is a GABRY2O aka m2o album!!
If gabry released his own album it would look different I think.

and yes.. these singles are from 2007 yes, so? ..it's the latest singles he has released ..I haven't seen any electro singles yet?

Gabry is the one that both make Elctro and Italo. You can say what you want but that's a fact!

I agree with cfe, I don't forget my favorite song of Gabry (figli di pitagora),Smile

I China, nearly every people who likes the dance music has heard ((Geordie)),

Though his style is Elctro, but I still believe he'll come back to make Italodance

Well it's hard to say how much the influence the m2o team had on the style of this album... I would love to know if this was the new style of Gabry or if m2o made him produce that style. You can't know for sure if an album released without "2O" in the name would be italo..

I would say you are way out of date if you haven't heard Gabry's latest productions.. Talking latest physical single then yes he is still producing italo... but what's the point in that anyway, talking latest productions is more telling and Somebody Called Me is not really a true italo-production.. more like an italo production with an electro-beat.

And I only hope you are right about that he is making both electro and italo..

I have read it 3 times now and I still have no idea of what it is that I don't get, I think it's pretty clear what you mean.
You think that Gabry would have released and italo album if it wasn't for m2o and you believe that Gabry will keep producing both italo and electro if that's not the case then you are writing one thing and thinking something else.

because you talk about his electro tracks...

I don't say all of his new singles are ITALODANCE Gabry Ponte Style!

I said: GABRY PONTE STILL MAKE/PRODUCE ITALO SOUND - but Prezioso, Molella, DJ Ross, PDJ and the others... doesn't they only produce HOUSE/ELECTRO.

That's my point ..nothing else.

PS. Can't say his lates singles as Underground and Somebody Called Me isn't gabry style - just listen PUMP UP THE RHYTHM from his album DOTTOR JEKYLL & MR. DJ - It's EXACTLY the same style!!.

U.N.D.E.R.G.R.O.U.N.D. is not a recent single it's over a year old but I agree it reminds of Pump Up The Rhythm. Somebody Called Me is different than those two if you compare the beat to them, it reminds of the beat used in many electro-productions without saying that it is electro just that it reminds of it.

And as I said before.. I hope you are right that Gabry will keep producing italo but as I also pointed out before: that is not the tendency he has shown in his last productions.. but you probably missed that point

..bah
I've lost a lot for gabry.. just listened "la danza della streghe" yesterday.. wow.. "geordie".. wow.. "musica tonante"... wow.. and then all "his" remixes... - but mostly people forget the people he worked together with back then.. great talents like Luca Ventafridda and Carlo Fiorentino... - true.. Roberto Molinaro still helps him.. but honestly.. Molinaro's sound has been seriously weakended in the last years.. "somebody called me" is waaay too long-strenghed.. just like underground was..

..besides that he has lost his great graphic designer for his artworks, Alex Topuntoli...

..couble of years ago i would really appreciate a new Gabry Ponte single/remix.. but it's just nothing special.. nothing unique.. like his older productions were...
