The first release by Paperboy "Step By Step" was released spring 2004, their second single "Special Day" was released winter same year. The project "Paperboy" consists of DJ Nick (Nicola Peloso) and the 2 guys from Promiseland: Nazario Pelusi and Fabio Ranucci who has worked with big names such as Vanni G and Molella.
The vinyl contains 2 mixes:
A1: Long Mix
B1: Synth Play Version
The "Long Mix" really live up to its name since it is 7:06 long. The track begins with a nice and quite long intro where also the vocal starts. Afterwards follows a quiet passage before the refrain is launched with 140BPM, - and I can assure your feet will take off! The refrain has an amazing mafia-like synth sound and together with the deep tubabass you can only put your hands way up high! After a few middle pieces the refrain is repeated 2 times before the track literally ebb away.
The B-side mix "Synth Play Version" reminds a lot of the A-side mix. Only notable difference is the refrain which is altered a bit. Unfortunately it is not to the better! It sounds wrong and I don't think it fits the track when you first have heard the Long Mix.
Though the two mixes are almost identical this single is among the best italodance productions of the winter 2004. Great vocal, amazing refrain and energetic bassline, in short: everything a succesful italo-track should contain. Simply a must-have for everyone who likes quality dance from Italy.
