Jack Bass - Prince Of Love

Jack Bass - Prince Of Love

Jack Bass is a project started by Antonio Cangiano and the male voice of Angelo Ciaravola, who also are together in the project Italo Tunez.

This is their first single using the synonym Jack Bass, and it is the typical love story about a guy singing how much he loves the girl. There is a male vocal singing verse and chorus with humming over. Also a female voice appears but only as hum.

The song was first released on the label Gamepad Records in may 2010 at a compilation called "Gamepad Selection vol. 1" featuring the Original Mix.
One and a half month later the single came out containing the Original Mix and 5 remix versions.

First up is the Angelo Ciaravola Vision Mix. It is without a doubt the best version of the track.
Angelo (also known as the lento violento maker @ngel) has a great sound and sense for details, something many italo remixes are missing today. Not many producers try to PLAY and have FUN with the sound or WANT to make it perfect, but Angelo does that and it is easy to hear in the result.
In the beginning of the track you hear right away one of the details that makes this remix so great: a "tika tika cha" melody that goes on for the entire track.
A very rhythmic, happy and fun sound to mix together with the italo sound. It goes very well next to the beat and the powerful bass, and together with the vocal going "oh ah ohhhh oh ohhh" it is very hard not to sing-a-long. Right after comes another nice detail in the track, the medieval sounds of violins and flutes mixed together, leading your thoughts towards knights and horses riding to the battlefield.
As mentioned in the beginning the Angelo Ciaravola mix is the best version, both when thinking of sound quality but also when thinking of what fits the vocals best - Angelo made a perfect match.

The Original Mix is more plain but still good, however. It has a good flow and build-up and there are some great parts with guitar and a nice synthesizer melody.
It begins with the female voice humming which is a great idea, but the voice or effect is not the most well made. Sadly it has not been giving much of the angelic-feeling it was supposed to have.

The next one you will find in the track list is the DJ G Passion Remix. DJ G's style is very emotional using the piano, violin, guitar and pads to get the right emotions. He starts the remix with a piano that takes you straight to heaven, slowly comes the female voice fading in making it feel like the "voice of an angel" style, playing together with a great fat bass. Then the main voice starts to the sound of a guitar followed by a crying synthesizer. Maybe it is just me but I really dislike that kind of sound, it is too sharp making it a pain to listen, but In the end it is a good emotional remix.

With the 4th version the DJ Spampy Engel Remix we move into the dull category of mandatory hands up and electro mixes, so I will not go into much detail here. Dance Rocker aka. DJ Fole has done a lot of great remixes and tracks together with Alex Teddy in the past, but this remix is far from the best he has done. It is very plain and simple in build-up and its sound picture. It does not contain much detail, if any at all, and sometimes it sounds very off key and wrong giving me Goosebumps (in a bad way!). It is a "1 hour Remix", meaning little time has been spent on it in the making.
The final and last remix is made by GA.SA. ...also one that is outside of my territory, although it sound well produced, I can say.

In all I think Antonio is making some really great melodies, real italo melodies in my opinion, and thanks to Ciaravola it is a really great single. It only lacks a little quality in the voice effects and mastering for it to be perfect. The remix package is decent but nothing that really lifts the single to the upper level, so it is a good single but it lacks some production quality to be really interesting.
