What headphones do you use to listen to your favorite music?

I am looking to buy good headphones, not for dj, only to listen music at home in best quality.

Any recommendations?
What do you use and you have opinions about them?

I want to buy the AKG K-141 MKII, but i am not sure.

Thanks!

The AKG are the best for studio listening IMHO Smile

Heinz, just do it!! That's the right choice!
AKG is better than any other headphones' factory... I've got a pair of them and when I put 'em up the sound is totally isolated, even when I play live with master volume high.

AKG are good indeed but they are also a picky headphone brand meaning that you only fully use their potential if you use them in cennection with a headphone pre-amp.

A brand like Sennheiser is less likely to need a pre-amp to sound good (HD500-series and above).
Grado could be another option, they make some of the best headphones in the world (but they are quite pricey..)

For my portable mp3-player I use KOSS PortaPro a real classic Smile

Do you think that using them without amplifier means low power?

It depends on the headphone's impedance, the higher their impedance is the more likely it is that you will need a preamp to even be able to use them. Although most phones will work fine without a preamp you will get much better sound by using one.
